Rankings include races through September 12, 2026.
As this is the first edition of this I wanted to add some commentary. These are computer rankings, they are entirely objective based on times run, dates run and courses, there is nothing subjective about them. This isn't my personal opinion about certain teams or races, its just math.
Every race (not course or meet) gets an adjustment based on how fast runners run in that race relative to other races. They are race-specific to account for different weather conditions and course conditions throughout a meet. For example, sweepstakes, division 1 and division 2 races at Liberty Bell seem to have run considerably faster than divisions 3 and 4 (this is independent of the kids running the races).
Separately races are adjusted based on their recency. This is because as kids naturally get faster throughout the season, it will start making early season meets look like they were slow and give them a faster adjustment. The recency weighting is to account for that, so that teams that ran super fast at pre-state and don't improve, dont get over-ranked, you know who you are.
If a runner hasn't run a race they can't be ranked and they can't help their team in the rankings. Im pretty sure if Jay McDonald had raced, he'd be in the top 10 in 4A and Summit would be ranked #1 in 4A Boys. I'm also guessing a certain team, that has a zero kids who live in their boundaries, hasn't raced any of their recruited all-stars yet or they would be ranked higher, albeit with an asterisk (enjoy this commentary while it lasts, I'll probably get more professional over time.)
Enjoy the rankings. The plan is to eventually offer paid subscriptions for much more detailed individual and regional level analysis. But for now enjoy the top 10 teams and individuals in each class. Im open to any feedback you have on this. Feel free to email feedback@truexcr.com.
